Everything you wrote is true and it's enraging. Dr. Timothy Snyder has proposed a People's Cabinet (like the UK's Shadow Cabinet) so we can politicize their decisions and let people know what *should* be happening and what's possible. We'd need a lot of current and/or former elected officials to play a role. That's one thing we should've developed and still could.
Any thoughts on why they didn't prepare? They also allowed voter suppression and voting problems (bombs at the polls, anyone?) to go relatively unchallenged. Maybe they should call the South Korean leaders who quickly ended their coup for advice.
The only two plays in the playbook are (1) sucking off billionaires and (2) punching left. So, it's not that they failed to assemble a strike team. It's that running those two plays pretty much precludes running any other plays.
One of the very best articles I've read here in a while. It should be made required reading for the Democrats in the House and Senate. As much as I like many Democrat politicians and their policy ideas, they rarely seem able to put those ideas into practice. It's gotten as though if they're not acting as insanely as an MTG or a Nancy Mace, that's good enough. Being intelligent and having good manners isn't nearly enough in this age of MAGA. We need politicians who aren't afraid to fight back against Trump's blatant power grabs and of getting their hands very dirty in the process.
I've had Theocracy Watch- "The Rise of the Right in the Republican Party" bookmarked for 10 years. It is Project 2025. I stood up and told this to Senator "across the aisle" Coons at a town Hall meeting in 2016. His answer to the crowd," But what you all want to hear about is Healthcare, right?"

All those Cabinet members who just lost their jobs (Buttigieg, etc) could/should be leading the charge.

Fun fact...the DNCC literally disbands after every presidential election and needs to be recreated
