Thank you for this clear statement. Immigration should consider both US needs and capacities as well as Immigrants needs and abilities. It has seemed to me that settlements of Somalies and Haitians in states like Ohio and Indiana could have used more support to establish connections between the new residents and those that had been there for some time. When “eating cats” became a theme, the groups in Springfield, Ohio didn’t have and hadn’t had the support they needed for broad, creative community integration.. There were ways to make Inclusion work - starting with common issues and what we bring to the table before focusing on differences.
