Spending our precious time and focus on Flipping Arizona is still the most important thing we can do heading into November’s elections. So we want to show you what the opportunity looks like.
The States Project has just delivered an overview of its core electoral program, including a look at the potential tipping point seats in the Grand Canyon state. We wanted to share it with you so you know how targeted and efficient the approach we’re supporting in our Giving Circle is.
Remember that the GOP has a one-seat advantage in both houses, which means Democrats need to pick up just two seats in each house out of the 90 races in the state to win a trifecta. Looking at these numbers, we’re sure you’ll see why we believe this is not only doable. It’s necessary.
First, let’s look at the layout of the Statehouse races. There are three seats the Democrats need to hold, along with two real opportunities for flips.
There appears to be one strong "hold" candidate in the State Senate and three potential flips.
After the June 30th primary, we’ll introduce you to the candidates States Project is looking at backing.
We’re hoping you adopt Flipping Arizona as your personal Giving Circle. We’re currently stuck at 13% of our $20,024 goal. We're also emphasizing actions people can take beyond, instead of, or along with donating cash in our Giving Guide.
If that doesn’t feel like a fit yet, we hope you find another Giving Circle to lead or join. This model of collective power magnifies the efforts of earlyworms and early birds who help feed their loved ones political news. It’s a “secret weapon” that allows us to take on the billionaire donors who are decades ahead of us in targeting down-ballot races.
If you want to know why Arizona deserves all the support we can muster, please check out our interview with State Senator Eva Burch. She’s an amazing and unique public servant who offers a view into the extremism that has rotted Arizona’s GOP.
