Don't let Betsy DeVos pick Chicago's mayor
Vote for Brandon Johnson just because he isn't the guy backed by the nation's leading destroyer of public schools.
There’s a minor epidemic of right-wingers pretending to be Democrats in hopes of becoming the mayor of one of America’s largest cities.
Despite the support of far too many celebrities, this ruse failed in Los Angeles. On Tuesday, we’ll find out if it worked in Chicago, where Paul Vallas has a dwindling lead in the polls.
This man shouldn’t be allowed anywhere within a few hundred feet of a public school.
Why?
I could tell you that Vallas backs every policy designed to destroy public education from privatization to self-dealing budget shennigans to the militizarization of schools.
But let’s just make this simple: Betsy DeVos backs him.
As a Michigander who has seen how this woman has devastated so many of our schools, that’s more than enough reason to back almost anyone running against Paul Vallas.
And it’s no secret why DeVos ❤️s Vallas:
That’s why Vallas also has the support of the National Review.
And the worst people online. Like this former NXIVM fan:
And this herpes of Elon’s “For You” tab:
And the co-founder of this murder of homophobes who thinks your RuPaul reading a book is a bigger threat to your kids than AR-15s:
Why?
Because they hate public education and know the way to destroy it is through the guise of “reformers” like Vallas, who clearly hate public education as much as they do.
Sure, there are lots of good reasons to vote for Brandon Johnson. But the best one is that Betsy DeVos is DeVoted to DeFeating him.
Don't let Betsy DeVos pick Chicago's mayor
Lifelong Chicago person here.
I am super nervous about Vallas winning. I like to tell people I have a personal grudge against him, with me being a CPS student during his awful tenure and all. The charter school rush and mishandling of resources impacted my community in many ways. I hope people who seen it first hand did not forget what Vallas had done. Despite me telling this to my friends, they still seem ambivalent about researching candidates until the last possible second. I feel a little hopeless on that front, but I can only hope that Brandon will pull through in the end. Crossing my fingers, here.
