Some alarming news for you: Normal people will decide this election. Those freaks.
About 500,000 voters in 10-12 states will actually decide the presidency, Senate, and House. And if that population is like the rest of America, 80-85% will be among those who tune out the news.
To them, most of the things we spend our days obsessing on would sound like gibberish. To these normal people, we probably sound like Don Jr. ranting about Paul Pelosi's underwear.
But chances are these normals have pretty good politics.
They want Roe or better. They don't want mass shooting drills. They'd like college to be free and health care for everyone. They're so progressive they think trans people should be able to marry AND retire. That's what the polling tells us.
Still, reaching normal people where they are takes work, which is essential right now for saving democracy, the climate, and pretty much everything else.
That's why this Instagram message above from Billie Eilish and Finneas O'Connell is so refreshing. It's just normal. And persuasive.
I don't know why pop stars are so good at this. They have people, sure. But they are the ultimate editors and avatars of the message. And we know from JD Vance how inauthenticity stinks and repels. Maybe it's because they spend their lives tuning into life and spend no time thinking like Laura Loomer.
